Stock & Custom Ropes & Lines
Braided, double-braided, hollow braid, three strand... ropes made of anything from cotton to kevlar. Braids and Laces is a large-scale manufacturer of rope and cord products owned and operated by people who take great pride in our work, our values and our customer service. As fourth-generation rope makers, coming up on 100 years of family history, Braids and Laces has produced custom ropes for just about every application imagineable, and yet we continue to find new materials and new manufacturing technologies that open up new applications. If you think a custom rope is what you need to get your job done, tell us about it. We can help.
We, the Terry family, have been manufacturing and supplying an ever expanding range of lines, cord & rope products since 1936. What started out as a small business to supply all manner of shoelaces to boot and shoe manufacturers in Canada quickly evolved into a growing operation to supply cord for ammunition boxes during World War II. As successive generations of the Terry family grew up in the business and took over operations, Braids & Laces continuously expanded production and added product lines.
The current owners of Braids & Laces, Henk and Barb, are the fourth generation in the Terry family to bring a fresh perspective to the industry and move the business forward. This newest era of management is focused on investing in new equipment to modernize and streamline production, and on providing outstanding quality braided and three-strand rope and cord products to their customers as well as exceptional service and value.
Our 12 strand rope goes by the name of Tuff-12X. The advantage of this construction method is its low stretch. The high number of strands makes it super strong for its weight, and easy to splice - the ideal material for slings. It's available in 3 diameters: 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4. Founded in 1936 by Harry Terry, Braids & Laces has evolved through three more generations of innovation and progress. Originally a supplier of shoelaces, the company first expanded during World War II to add cord manufacturing to its repertoire, supplying braided cord as handles for ammunitions boxes. The next step in its development was to expand the laces product line into sports equipment (skates), and the ropes product line into marine uses. Each successive generation has been successful in expanding the business of manufacturing rope, cord and laces, while still maintaining a high standard of service to their customers.

For a tree climbing rope with minimum elongation and high breaking strength, we offer our 7/16" Wizard Line, available with or without an eye (sewn or hand-spliced), as you require. It's pre-conditioned for a smooth feeling, and provides great control on descents and easy retrieval. Our draw strings for garments are available as flat lace (1/2" wide) and round lace (5/32"). Both are made of 100% cotton. The round option is manufactured to your custom order specifications.

Our Crown King Arborist Rope is designed with climbing in mind. It is low stretch and splicable, with excellent knot holding capability. It has a "worked-in" feeling, but is long-lasting. We stock it in two standard lengths, a variety of colour combinations, and it is available with sewn or hand-spliced eye (or without any eye). If you require an exceptionally strong but light rope, we recommend our 12-stranded UHMWPE braid. It is available in diameters from 3/16" to 3/8", and features a breaking strength ranging from 5,200 lbs up to 12,500 lbs - stronger than steel. The coated version has even greater abrasion resistance - perfect for winch and pulling lines.
We actually answer our phone (and emails). Try us! Call 705-437-1470 or contact us online. We will be happy to help you with any stock or custom rope, line, cord or lace needs you have.
